Science
The signals your body sends,
quietly read from your finger.
HealthRing measures four health signals continuously and turns them into a small number of clear insights each morning. This page explains how — in plain English, and with honest limits.
Signals
Four signals, and why they matter.
Heart rate variability
The tiny beat-to-beat variation in your pulse. Higher, over time, usually means a well-rested nervous system.
Resting heart rate
How slowly your heart beats when your body is calm. A gradual drop over weeks is a strong fitness signal.
Sleep stages
Deep, REM and light sleep, estimated from pulse patterns and movement. We report time in each stage and how quality is trending.
Skin temperature
Small nightly shifts against your own baseline can reveal stress, hormones, or the first days of a cold — before you feel it.
Optical PPG
Green and infrared LEDs shine into the artery on the underside of your finger. The reflected light lets us calculate pulse and pulse-to-pulse variation.
Skin temperature
A precision thermistor tracks your skin temperature every minute overnight. We compare it to your own baseline, not a fixed number.
3-axis accelerometer
Detects when you're moving, when you're still, and what position you're sleeping in. Combined with pulse, this powers sleep-stage estimation.
Contact detection
Only measures when the ring confirms it's on your skin, so battery and data stay honest.
Method
How we read the numbers.
Personalised baselines
Every metric is compared to your own recent average — not to a population value. What matters is how you are trending.
On-device processing
Your raw signal is processed on your phone. We don't need to ship your health data to a third party for the ring to be useful.
Honest limits
HealthRing is a wellness tool, not a medical device. It can spot patterns worth paying attention to — it cannot diagnose. Always speak with a clinician for medical advice.
